How GPO Pricing Works in Wren

Wren shows whether your GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) is connected to each supplier, and whether individual products are on your GPO's contract with that supplier. Contracted products are typically cheaper, since GPO contracts are agreements between

Wren displays GPO status at two levels: the supplier level and the product level.

GPO Connected (supplier level)

A GPO Connected badge on a supplier means that supplier has confirmed to Wren that your GPO is connected with them. This comes directly from the supplier — if they report the connection, Wren reflects it.

You can still shop and order from a supplier even if your GPO isn't connected to them. Without a GPO connection, every product from that supplier will show as Not Contracted.

Contracted vs. Not Contracted (product level)

Once your GPO is connected to a supplier, individual products may still be Contracted or Not Contracted:

  • Contracted means that specific product is on your GPO's negotiated agreement with that supplier (for example, a Vizient contract on a specific gauze pad through Henry Schein). Contracted pricing is nearly always lower, since suppliers typically don't load a GPO contract unless it beats their standard pricing.

  • Not Contracted means that product isn't part of your GPO's agreement with that supplier. No GPO discount applies, and it will be priced at the supplier's standard rate.

No GPO has every product from every supplier under contract — it's normal to see a mix of Contracted and Not Contracted items even from a fully GPO-connected supplier.

What this means for you

The GPO contract itself is an agreement between your GPO, you, and the supplier — Wren isn't part of that negotiation. Wren simply displays the contract status so you know which products are covered by your GPO pricing and which aren't.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What does "GPO Connected" mean on a supplier?
A: It means that supplier has confirmed to Wren that they're connected with your GPO.

A: No. GPO contracts are agreements between your GPO, you, and the supplier. Wren only displays the resulting contract status.
